“The chemistry between the dancers and the musicians immersed the audience in the world of Latin New York – and they LOVED it!” Richard Petkovic, Sydney Sacred Music Festival Director
Ay Pachanga is the Latin party of the year! Following sell-out shows in Sydney, Ay Pachanga celebrates the world’s largest Latin label, Fania Records, and the music that made it famous.
Founded in New York in 1964, Fania Records produced Latin music stars such as Tito Puente, Celia Cruz, Ray Barreto, Willie Colon, and Ruben Blades, and showcased a melting pot of musical influences derived from Cuba, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, America and Panama.
Music Director Martin Taylor (Mucho Mambo) performs with a stellar line-up of top Australian musicians performing Latin boogaloo, salsa, and mambo – the Latin sounds of the ’60s and ’70s. Joining them on stage are award-winning dancers in a colourful showcase, celebrating the street styles of Latin New York in the Fania era.
