Another brilliant season of concerts is planned for Yass Music Club, thanks to our dedicated Music Director, Peter Jones. We are incredibly fortunate to be able to attract nationally and internationally renowned artists to Yass. All our concerts, as usual, will be held in the Yass Soldiers Memorial Hall, and will include a delicious supper provided by the Yass Hospital Auxiliary.
PLEASE NOTE OUR NEW STARTING TIME: 7.00PM
Concert 1: Hayes Collective
Step into an intimate world of chamber music
Saturday 13th March, 2027 at 7.00 pm
The R.A.G. and Katherine Holmes Tribute Concert in association with Musica VIva
Hayes Collective offers a program for flute, cello, and piano spanning three centuries of virtuoso offerings reimagined for this unique combination, brought to us by:
Rosie Gallagher (Flute)
Chris Pidcock (Cello)
Lee Dionne (Piano)
The program begins with a spirited Trio Sonata by Johann Christoph Friedrich Bach, a lesser-known but no less gifted son of J.S. Bach from the mid 18th-century, before jumping forward in time to a set of art songs by Alma Mahler and Alban Berg from the peak of Viennese expressionism, arranged exquisitely for flute, cello, and piano by our pianist Lee Dionne. The evening culminates in Mendelssohn’s Piano Trio No. 1 in D minor, a work that celebrates both the virtuosity of the piano as well as the ability of all three instruments to join together in both tenderness and passion. An evening of chamber music at its finest.
It will be particularly special for Yass Music Club, as Chris Pidcock will be playing R.A.G. Holmes’ cello, which he plays on loan from the Holmes Family. Dr. R.A.G.Holmes was one of the founders of Yass Music Club, and President for many years.
Program
Friedrich Christoph Friedrich BACH Trio Sonata in D Major, W. VII/4 B. 29
Alma MAHLER / Alban BERG Four Songs (arr. Lee Dionne)
Felix MENDELSSOHN Piano Trio No. 1 in D minor, Op. 4

We would like to acknowledge the support of the R.A.G. and Katherine Holmes Family and Musica Viva for this concert.
Concert 2: Justin Bullock (double bass) and Joel Woods (mandolin)

This unique cmbination of double bass and mandolin is brought to us by two exceptional and innovative young musicians from Brisbane.

He is now regular guest Principal Bass with the QSO and plays regularly with the QSO Chamber Players series. He has played on stages all across Australia as well as overseas.
Joel is a skilled performer on diverse plucked string instruments. He offers audiences a rich tapestry of sounds, whether exploring the intricate notes of the guitar, the unique taones of the banjo, or the melodic beauty of the mandolin. Joel experiments with an eclectic range of genres, and revels in collaborating with other musicians. His approach is characterised by an authentic connection with his audience.

His brilliant playing brings the best out of our Steinway Grand, and he charms audiences with his sensitive and interactive performances. Since last playing in Yass, Simon Tedeschi was awarded the Order of Australia by the Governor General.
In this concert, Simon Tedeschi performs with virtuoso violinist, Andrew Haveron, described by The Sunday Times as ‘…a charismatic and brilliant soloist who needs fear no comparison.’ Andrew has been Concertmaster with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra since 2013, and was formerly concertmaster for the BBC Symphony Orchestra and first violinist with the renowned Brodsky Quartet.
