Concert 5
The Flinders Quartet
Sunday 19th October, 2025 at 2.00 pm
The R.A.G. and Katherine Holmes Tribute Concert in association with Musica Viva

The Flinders Quartet treated Yass Music Club members to a delightful concert, opening with Beethoven’s striking Quartet No.11, Op 95 ‘Serioso’. The striking contrasts in emotion in this quartet were brilliantly highlighted by these outstanding musicians. The second item on the program was a piece commissioned by the Flinders Quartet: Deborah Cheetham Fraillon’s fascinating tribute to Darug man, Bungaree. The music mysteriously evoked the spirit of this intriguing man, who accompanied Matthew Flinders on his exploratory voyage around Australia. After the interval, the Quartet played Mozart’s brief and moving Adagio and Fugue in C minor, K546. The finale was the exhilarating Dvorak String Quartet, No 14, Op 195. Thank you, Flinders Quartet, for this wonderful concert!
