2026 is shaping up to be another spectacular of concerts! Our music director, Peter Jones, has prepared a brilliant program of 5 superb concerts for the year, starting with a special performance by Australia’s most acclaimed baritone, Teddy Tahu Rhodes, accompanied by noted conductor and radio host, Guy Noble. We look forward to seeing you there!
Concert 1
Teddy Tahu Rhodes and Guy Noble
Saturday 14th March, 2026 at 7.45pm
Teddy Tahu-Rhodes and Guy Noble presented a delightful evening of music. Teddy Tahu-Rhodes’ magnificent voice filled the Yass Soldiers Memorial Hall thrilling us all with his gorgeous baritone resonance. He chose an interesting selection of numbers including some wonderful and well-known operatic arias, and some more popular numbers, such as “If I were a rich man”. The audience were enthusiastic in joining in with some old-time favourites, such as “Molly Malone”, and “The Road to Gundagai”.
In between Teddy’s arias, Guy Noble entertained the audience with some exhilarating piano playing and some cheeky songs, composed just for Yass! His Gilbert and Sullivan medley was hilarious – and you could hear every word!
The evening ended with Teddy’s moving rendition of a Maori blessing. Not many dry eyes in the house.
We would like to acknowledge the support of Bendigo Bank Boorowa, and Priceline Pharmacy Yass for this concert.

Concert 2
Partridge String Quartet
Saturday 13th June , 2026 at 7.45pm
The R.A.G. and Katherine Holmes Tribute Concert in association with Musica Viva
The Partridge String Quartet’s performance on June 13th was truly superb, featuring four outstanding musicians: Jos Jonker (Violin); Madeleine Jevons (Violin); Eunice Cheng (Viola); and Daniel Smith (Cello).
The concert opened with Mozart’s String Quartet no 23, K. 590. All four players gave virtuosic performances, each player perfectly balancing and responding to the others. The obvious delight of the performers themselves contributed to the audience’s own enjoyment of their performance. This interaction between performers and audience is what makes live music so special, and one of the reasons why attending a concert in Yass Memorial Hall is a unique experience.
Having thrilled us with the Mozart String Quartet, the Partridge ensemble introduced us to an entirely different composition by young Australian composer, Holly Harrison. The piece was entitled “Fluor Electric” – and it was indeed electrifying. From the first rasping bars played close to the bridge by violinist, Jos Jonker, we were on the edge of our seats. A thrilling performance.
After the interval we were treated to Debussy’s String Quartet in G Minor, Op 10. This sensual and evocative piece was exquisitely performed. Malcolm and Heather Bullock, connoisseurs of this quartet, pronounced it the best rendition they had ever heard.
And as a final treat – an encore! Again, a change of genre. This time, variations on an Irish air, which brought thunderous applause.Edit

Concert 5
Aura Go, Pianist
The Mary Reid Tribute Concert in association with Musica Viva
Saturday 17th October, 2026 at 7.45 pm

In Friendship and Memory explores the intimate world of friendship through music, tracing a personal thread of affection, memory and artistic kinship. Carlos Guastavino’s Mis Amigos is an enchanting set of ten musical portraits of friends, while each of Lili Boulanger’s evocative and poignant Trois Morceaux is dedicated to a dear friend of the composer. Brahms’ Variations on a Theme by Schumann, Op. 9, written during his deep friendship with Robert and Clara Schumann, form a poignant homage to a mentor in decline. Composed within the final six months of Schubert’s life, the Drei Klavierstücke, D. 946 contains music of profound interiority and tenderness. The work was published posthumously by Johannes Brahms in an act of admiration and artistic friendship across time. The rarely heard Six Pieces by neglected Swedish composer Hélène Tham continue the theme of legacy and rediscovery—inventive, expressive miniatures that speak with compelling freshness. Together, these works form a musical tapestry woven from affection, remembrance, and quiet acts of devotion.
We would like to acknowledge the support of Musica Viva for this concert.
